Avoid the risks of over-exposure to patient expired gases.
Nursing and medical staff are being exposed to passive inhalation of patient-expired relative analgesic gases. The exposure standard for Nitrous Oxide (N2O) is a time-weighted average of no more than 25ppm. Australian studies have found hospitals using Relative Analgesia (RA) apparatus without scavenging had measured levels much higher than 25ppm.
Chronic Nitrous Oxide exposure side efffects can include:
Reduced fertility in both women and men
Spontaneous abortion in pregnant women
Neurological disorders
Renal complications and liver disease
Decrease in mental performance, audiovisual ability and manual dexterity
Gas-Evac has been specically designed to significantly reduce the levels of workplace exposure to patient-expired gases for medical professionals.
Benefits:
Reduces N2O in the workplace to well below the recommended maximum of 25ppm
Provides a safe and cost effective solution for environments where existing scavenging may be inadequate
Reduces exposure to future OH&S risk
Helps to ensure your workplace meets exposure standards - NOHSC:3008(1995)
How does it work?
The unique turbulence chamber enables your existing scavenge system to keep up with the high volume expiration of a heavily respirating patient.
The dual-limbed fresh gas/scavenge circuits incorporate a non-return valve which eliminates the possibility of a patient rebreathing expired gases.
ISO standard fttings eliminate the possibility of incorrect connections.
Connects to any existing suction or scavenge wall outlet to safely remove high volumes of expired gas from the immediate work area.
Available as a mobile pedestal or as a wall-mounted unit, to suit all patient installations.
